Teaching is a vocation and my aim is to try and give all my students a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Accordingly, my teaching approach is low key but very focused on the strengths and weaknesses of each student. In addressing those weaknesses, whether they relate to grammar, pronunciation or vocabulary, I use a number of techniques to help eliminate them. Additionally, in my ambition for each student to build his English skills, we look at the rhythm of the language, dynamics and the use of gestures when expressing oneself. Often, I will try to use interesting texts that will fire up the imagination of the student and encourage him/her to expand their horizons. Note that I am a retired former business executive so I bring to the table more than 40 years experience in commerce which can often be a useful adjunct to call upon when necessary, especially if the aim of the student is to use his English skills as a career building tool. |
